This south-facing, passive solar timber frame house rests on a sandstone plinth set deep into a rugged and steeply sloping high bank ledge overlooking Satellite Channel. Ocean loop geothermal heat; high-mass walls and floors with large expanses of south-facing glazing; a state of the art environmental control system manufactured and installed by the owner; allowance for a full array of solar photovoltaics with battery backup and a Finnish-style contra flow masonry heater work in concert to reduce energy demand for this Salt Spring Island house.
